The 39 city Going to Hell Tour continues through November and supports the new album "Going To Hell" which will be released March 12, 2014. New York City's The Pretty Reckless rock Anaheim House of Blues on October 10th 2013 and share 4 new songs. The band: Ben Phillips guitar, Mark Damon bass, Jamie Perkins drums and fronted by Taylor Momsen.
Although this So Cal show wasn't honored with a live performance of Jenna Haze's "Follow Me Down" intro, we'll gladly make do with the recorded version as Taylor Momsen sensually saunters on stage with fist held high. The powerful opener rocks hard with abrupt tempo changes, an erie Tim Burtonesque bridge followed by a dynamic buildup to the ending chorus. Momsen's voice has been described many ways, pretty much all positive, truth is she has amazing tone. She also has a charismatic stage presence that resembles old school rock star...I feel confident that we're witnessing a future rock icon in the making. "Cold Blooded" was a show highlight, the bluesy hard rock song showcases a shared vocal by guitarist Ben Phillips who proves he can hold his own at the mic along with great guitar work.
The band then played fan favorites My Medicine, Goin' Down and Make Me Want To Die in a row before breaking into new album title track Going To Hell. The new songs are heavy and add almost an industrial flavor to their sound. Another highpoint was the band covering Audioslave's Like a Stone, the band has been known to rotate between performing it plugged and acoustically.
With the bands inspiration coming from classic rock and the personal promise to bring it back I'm curious to see what is next for The Pretty Reckless.
