#9 - Rush - Moving Pictures - Anthem Records - 1981

It's ironic to have such an American sounding song as 'Tom Sawyer' open the veteran Canadian band's eighth studio album. For a group that had been rarely commercial or accessible to mainstream music fans, Moving Pictures was, in some ways a significant departure.

With additional singles 'Limelight' and 'Vital Signs', Rush was able to get increased airplay while songs like the instrumental 'YYZ' cemented their reputation as uncompromising musicians with unmatched abilities.

Listening to Neil Peart go berserk on drums accompanied by Geddy Lee's funky, progressive bass and Alex Lifson's deceptively complex melodies, it is hard to believe all that music was made by just three guys.
